Climate change and the travel industry
We deeply believe in the transformational power of travel, fostering connections, and enriching cultural exchange. However, we also acknowledge the undeniable impact of climate change on our planet and the pivotal role the travel industry plays in this global challenge.
As a dedicated travel management company, we've taken concrete steps to address the implications of climate change within the charity, academic, and not-for-profit sectors. Our commitment to sustainability and responsibility remains steadfast.
Climate change is one of the most significant challenges of our era. The travel industry, especially aviation, has a substantial carbon footprint. As organisations worldwide wrestle with their environmental impact, it is crucial that travel plays a prominent role in this conversation.
At Diversity Travel we pride ourselves on setting an example. Since 2011, we have been carbon neutral having achieved the Carbon Neutral PA 2060 Standard. Our commitment, however, extends beyond offsetting emissions and is about actively reducing emissions from our operations.
Our objective now is to accelerate the reduction of carbon and have agreed on the challenging target to achieve net zero across scopes 1 to 3 by 2025.
Our mission goes beyond our own operations. We empower our clients in the charity, academic, and not-for-profit sectors to align with their sustainability goals. These sectors often involve significant travel for humanitarian aid, research, and conferences. We provide guidance and sustainable travel options to ensure that our clients can minimise their environmental impact. Providing C02 emission reports, and offering alternative travel options to flying where possible all help our clients make the most environmentally friendly travel options where possible.
Our recent membership in Business Declares is further evidence of our commitment to collaborative climate action. Business Declares is a network of businesses dedicated to addressing climate change, biodiversity loss, and social injustice. By joining this network we amplify our efforts and collaborate with like-minded organisations to create a more sustainable travel industry.
As the travel industry evolves sustainability will remain a central focus. Through collaboration, education, and innovative solutions, the travel industry has the potential to mitigate its impact on the environment and promote positive social and economic outcomes. The impact of climate change on the travel industry is undeniable, but the industry is also a powerful force for positive change.
Diversity Travel is leading the way in empowering the charity, academic, and not-for-profit sectors to navigate a sustainable future. Our dedication to achieving Net Zero by 2025, our carbon-neutral status, and our collaboration with Business Declares set a remarkable example for the entire travel industry.
As travellers and organisations become increasingly aware of the climate imperative, sustainable travel practices will continue to gain prominence, ensuring a better, more responsible future for all. We invite everyone to join us on this journey towards a more sustainable and climate-responsible travel industry.
